Here's a list of five of the most fuel-efficient cars. As gas prices as well as prices of other needs go up, we all need to find ways to save up our money. Otherwise, we're going to have our pockets drained, and we don't want that. Maximizing your miles is crucial, no matter how much you use your vehicle each day.

Good thing, the popularity of hybrid cars and zero-emission vehicles is on the rise. But until the prices of electric cars go down at an affordable level, we can stick gas and diesel engines as well as some hybrids for now. Here are the most fuel-efficient cars that are on the market today.

Toyota Prius

When we speak of hybrid cars, many enthusiasts think of Toyota Prius virtually always. And there's a good reason behind it: Toyota Prius is one of the first hybrid cars introduces in the United States (the second one). The Toyota Prius - particularly the 2019 model - can run up to 56 mpg when driven within the city and 53 mpg when driven on the highway. Not only that, the Prius also holds a spot for one of the best compact cars in the market. This car runs by both a 1.8-liter capacity four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. Though this is not the best one when it comes to speed, this is unmistakably a car you should have for city driving.

Honda Insight

If Toyota is the second hybrid car introduced in the US, then the Honda Insight has the record for the first hybrid car to ever step soil in America. It's been around for some time, but the 2019 model is still one of the most fuel-efficient cars out there. Honda Insight boasts of 55 mpg in the city and 49 mpg on a highway drive. What's also excellent about this car is its outstanding passenger capacity, making it ideal for large families.

Mitsubishi Mirage

Not only is it easy on the gas, but it's also the easiest on the pocket. The Mitsubishi Mirage is named as the cheapest car of 2019. For less than $14,000, you'd be able to drive one home. And with only 36 mpg city, you'd be able to save up substantial money on gas per year. Though fuel-efficient, it only has a 1.3-liter engine and 78 horsepower. So if you're looking for a fast car, this shouldn't be your pick. But if you're really after a car that's cost-efficient and fuel-efficient, then you should go for this model.

Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid

The Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid has been Toyota Prius's fierce rival for 3 years now - and it's giving the Prius a run for its money. A Prius can run up to 56 mpg when in the city, but the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid can go up as far as 58 mpg. It also boasts of a more comfortable and tech-savvy interior (with its Android Auto and Apple integration) and more conventional styling, which the majority prefers. When you consider getting an Ioniq, get the Blue model as it is the least pricey of their lineup.

Kia Niro

Are you looking for a sub-compact SUV? Then check out the Kia Niro. The Niro 2019 model runs a 52 mpg city, 49 mpg highway, and 50 mpg combined. Though it is a hybrid car, you can also choose a Niro that is an all-electric or a plug-in hybrid variety. If you're after four an all-wheel SUV, the Niro is not the one for you as they come with front-wheel drive. But if you're okay with a front-wheel drive, then give this fuel-efficient car a check.
